Innovative Construction Management (ICM) laboratory studies various managerial issues related to the effective delivery of construction projects. The lab investigates various drivers innovating construction projects. The drivers may include information technology, sustainability, safety, new regulations, and new materials. The lab pursues studies quantitatively measuring the impact or efficiency of such drivers in terms of various project performance measures such as cost, schedule, safety, change & rework, and productivity. With these, the lab also conducts research studies about performance measure and benchmarking by developing metrics, best practices, and systems for benchmarking. Studies conducted by the lab have various units of analysis from process-level to industry-level.

In summary, ICM lab studies

  • Adoption/implementation of new technologies, policies, and processes in the life cycle of a project
  • Quantification of its impacts, and
  • Development of best practices maximizing its benefits

Below are the recent and ongoing research projects carried out by the ICM Lab.

  • Advanced Work Packaging (AWP)
  • Monitoring Workers' Work Conditions Using Sensor Data and ML
